About the position

Duties
✅ Oversees the management of the financial, materiel, and human resources of the Campus Services Section.
✅ Oversees the work of employees within the CCG Academy Campus Services section (Accommodation, Galley, Store, AV, Space management, security)
✅ Develops budgets and forecasts for the sector
✅ Oversees the procurement and maintenance of the various equipment and technology
✅ Oversees the logistics, storage, disposal, and loaning of a wide variety of materials, equipment
✅ Liaise with all the Academy stakeholders
✅ Work closely with onsite Real Property
✅ Maintain relation with local partners.

📖The Canadian Coast Guard Academy is the national maritime training facility of the Canadian Coast Guard. The CCG Academy develops and delivers specialized training and services in French and English to support our mission and mandate in marine safety, security and environmental protection. Their unique and specialized training is sought after by organizations around the world. Each year, highly trained graduates join their colleagues as Coast Guard officers to provide services that are critical to Canadians.
Intent of the process
📌The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Coast Guard.

EDUCATION:
EDU1 : A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
- Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
- Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
2. Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

EXPERIENCE:
E1 : Significant* experience managing and overseeing the delivery of accommodation services, including related operational services such as front desk operations, food services, custodial services, or facilities support.
E2: Significant* experience in managing or supervising staff
E3: Significant* experience in managing financial resources, including budget planning, forecasting and monitoring.
E4: Experience managing physical resources, including space utilization, assets, facilities, equipment, or operational services.
E5: Significant* experience in project management or in operations management.
Notes:
*Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.

AE1 : Experience in management of installations and immobilization in a training institute.
AE2: Experience providing or managing services in a variety of operational environments, such as service delivery, operational, or administrative settings.
AE3: Experience managing or overseeing a security team.

AK1 : Knowledge of the programs, operations of the Canadian Coast Guard and the Canadian Coast Guard Academy.
