Regional Engineering manages Type Design change applications under CAR 521. These design changes may result in the issuance of approvals such as Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs), Repair Design Approvals (RDAs), and Part Design Approvals (PDAs).
As a Regional Engineer in Aircraft Certification, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of aeronautical products. You will:
• Provide aircraft certification services and technical guidance to the aviation industry.
• Apply engineering expertise to assess aeronautical products and determine compliance with applicable design and safety standards.
• Collaborate with Canadian and international stakeholders, including civil aviation authorities, to support the approval and harmonization of aeronautical products.
• Conduct oversight activities of Minister's delegates to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and established expectations.
• Exercise sound judgment and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment while supporting safe and innovative aviation products.
• Contribute to decisions that have a direct impact on aviation safety and the travelling public.

Aircraft Certification operates in Regional Offices across Canada, as well as in the National Capital Region.
Intent of the process
The intention of this process is to staff 1 EN-ENG-04 position in Calgary, Alberta in the Civil Aviation, Aircraft Certification Branch at Transport Canada.
A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used in the future to staff other positions at Transport Canada. Some of the possible locations of positions include: Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and Moncton.

EDUCATION OR OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
The minimum standard for positions classified as EN is one, either, or both of Education or Occupational Certification.
When education is required, the minimum standard is:
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
When occupational certification is required, the minimum standard is:
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
Note:
1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
2. Candidates will be asked to provide proof of education and/or occupational certification.

EXPERIENCES
EX1: Significant* experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support, or certification of aeronautical products.
*Significant is defined as having six (6) or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.
EX2: Significant** engineering experience in the design, development, or certification of aircraft avionics systems (Airworthiness manual 523/525/527/529).
EX3: Significant** engineering experience in the design, development, or certification of aircraft electrical systems and electromagnetic compatibility (Airworthiness manual 523/525/527/529).
**Significant is defined as having three (3) or more years of experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge in the design and engineering analysis of Aircraft Systems and Equipment (Avionics), including communication systems, navigation systems, and instrument systems.
K2: Knowledge of engineering principles related to aircraft electrical systems and electromagnetic compatibility.

ASSET OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOC: Previous delegation or qualification to become delegated as an Aircraft Certification Delegate by Transport Canada.

AEX1: Experience in providing guidance to others on the interpretation or application of regulations, standards or guidance material related to engineering activities.
ASSET KNOWLEDGE
AK1: Knowledge of Canadian civil aviation airworthiness requirements and their application to aeronautical product certification.
ASSET ABILITIES
AA1: Ability to manage projects.
