About the position
Duties
As an Economic Development Officer or Program Officer, you could be asked to:
✅ Accomplish work that allows you to use your organizational and leadership skills.
✅ Promote ACOA's programs and activities to the public and business community.
✅ Provide professional advice, analysis and recommendations on economic and business development issues.
✅ Assist in the delivery of regional economic development programs.
✅ Represent ACOA at meetings with various key stakeholders.
✅ Manage a portfolio of accounts.
✅ Collaborate with other federal departments, as well as provincial, municipal and territorial governments.

Intent of the process
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates will be established. This pool will be used to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various tenures (i.e., indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment, and secondment) within the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) in various locations mentioned above.

Security level will be based on the position to be staffed (Reliability or Secret security clearance).
Operational Requirements
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime including evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver's license required for personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license within the limits of the Treasury Board Travel Policy.

Experience (Assets):
AEX1: Experience in regional economic development, including interpreting policies and providing advice to support the delivery of government grants and contributions programs.
AEX2: Experience in commercial lending and project administration, including negotiating with clients or stakeholders, developing agreements or contracts, and monitoring projects throughout their life cycle.
AEX3: Experience analyzing and evaluating business plans, funding applications, economic-development proposals, financial statements, external reports or other data sources and preparing recommendations, reports, dashboards or strategic decision-support materials for management or executives.
AEX4: Experience managing high-risk or problem accounts, including operational reviews, work-out plans, financial restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, recovery, collections and realization on security, in collaboration with financial institutions, governments, accounting or legal professionals.
AEX5: Experience managing human and/or financial resources.
