The Administrative Support Clerk positions are located within Island District Headquarters in Victoria and support the Island District Management Team as well as our General Investigation Section. These positions are both administrative and operational in nature and will be required to work within our operational police systems, assisting police officers with their files and investigations, as well as completing administrative duties. The Detachment Service Assistant positions are located within detachments and complete similar duties, as well as are front facing to the public.
Please note, some positions are located in rural or isolated communities and require a medical clearance. These positions may also be a one-PSE Detachment, meaning that the position is responsible for all administrative and operational support duties for that Detachment. It is a very demanding job and if interested, the candidate must be aware of the limited resources on site and be diligent in seeking out training and assistance if needed. Employees will not be able to work Telework due to the nature of the duties.
Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff 8 permanent and temporary vacancies. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent and temporary vacancies in similar-level positions.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

It is recommended that you describe the experience examples in specific terms, providing sufficient details so that the Assessment Board can clearly understand. Candidates who are unable to provide proof that they meet this essential qualification as requested may be eliminated from the process. Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though they do not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain an RCMP security clearance may involve, but is not limited to, a security/reliability interview, a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity, verification of credit/financial status, reference checks, education, employment history, online activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc., and may require certain residency requirements.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
