About the position
DutiesWorkforce Generation: Provides important client and corporate services to the Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Region. Supervises employees, provides information and advice to managers and employees, completes research and analytical work, provides transactional services (arranging training, routing staffing paperwork, etc.), prepares presentations, reports and other documents including maintaining regional workforce tracking tools, and more!
Business Analyst: Responsible for in-year financial support to senior management, business planning and providing financial services to various organizations across CCG Arctic Region. Financial Management activities include budget management, completing quarterly financial reviews and forecasting, creation of commitments, reallocation of expenditures, assisting with contract and procurement management. Financial Services include preparation of travel plans, preparation of delegation of authority documents, submitting event and hospitality requests, and provision of services. This position is responsible for meeting with internal clients and managers on a regular basis to understand their functions and to ensure estimates for expenditures are accurate and submissions are correct.
Corporate Security Services: Provides advice, guidance and/or services to employees, managers and/or clients on requirements, processes and/or procedures as it relates to security, safety and business continuity. Conducts analysis of requests and requirements. Initiates and processes requests for service. Identifies problematic circumstances or issues and/or develops and recommends strategies, solutions, and/or proposals. Provides input and/or contributes to the development and/or implementation of policies, programs, tools, procedures and/or guidelines, related to the area(s) of work. Negotiates and/or prepares contracts and/or service agreements. Plans, coordinates and/or conducts evaluations, sweeps, and/or inspections. Reviews, research and/or reports on results, violations and/or security breaches. Researches and analyzes information. Prepares memos, summaries, briefing materials, communication materials, various reports, documents and/or presentations
Work environment
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is a special operating agency within the Department of National Defence (DND). We work to ensure the safety of mariners in Canadian waters and protect Canada’s marine environment. We support Canada’s economic growth through the safe and efficient movement of maritime trade. We help to ensure our country’s sovereignty and security through our presence in Canadian waters. The CCG proudly serves 243,000 kilometers of Canada’s vast and rugged coastline, the longest coastline of any given country, and is one of the few federal agencies that provides direct, front-line services 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to create a pool of fully qualified applicants to staff AS-03 positions within the Arctic Region.The positions to be staffed include Workforce Generation Team Leads, Business Analysts and Corporate Services Coordinators (Security). Possible locations include: Yellowknife, NT; Inuvik, NT; Hay River, NT; Rankin Inlet, NU; Iqaluit, NU. Depending on the position to be staffed, asset qualifications may be invoked as essential qualifications.
In addition, a pool of candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent (indeterminate) positions in various locations that report to the Arctic region with the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG).
Other Departments and Agencies who have positions in Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik or the Northwest Territories and the marine areas of James Bay and Hudson Bay may also be able access this qualified pool. Linguistic profile requirements as well as tenures, position location and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.
