The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) is at the forefront of ensuring the safety of Canadians and the integrity of Canada’s financial system. As Canada’s financial intelligence unit and AML/ATF supervisor, FINTRAC helps combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and threats to the security of Canada.
The Junior Data and Information Management (IM) Specialist supports the implementation and maintenance of FINTRAC's information and data management practices, governance activities, and stewardship initiatives. Working under the direction of senior specialists and manager, the position contributes to the effective management, accessibility, organization, quality, and integrity of information and data assets across the Centre.
The role provides operational and administrative support for information and data governance activities, metadata management, lifecycle administration, records management, and repository maintenance. The incumbent assists with maintaining information and data management documentation, supporting governance processes, monitoring compliance with established standards, and responding to routine user inquiries related to information and data management practices.
Working collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders, the Junior Data and IM Specialist contributes to modernization initiatives and supports the consistent application of information and data management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices. The position also assists in promoting information stewardship, data discoverability, accessibility, and compliance in support of FINTRAC's strategic objectives and evidence-based decision-making.
Work environmentFINTRAC is a separate agency and has its own classification system. This position is classified as FC-03 and is generally comparable to (but not an exact equivalent of) the AS-03 and AS-04 groups and levels.
This position requires onsite presence at FINTRAC headquarters (234 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, Ontario) a minimum of three (3) days per week. This requirement is expected to increase to four (4) days per week onsite. Additional onsite may be required to meet operational requirements.

EDUCATION:
ED1 - Graduation from a two‑year program of study from a recognized post‑secondary institution (e.g., college or university) with acceptable specialization in:

EXPERIENCE:
E1 – Experience providing administrative, operational, analytical, or project support related to information management, data management, records management, governance, compliance, or a related field.
E2 – Experience organizing, maintaining, updating, or managing information, records, documentation, repositories, databases, or other business information assets.
E3 – Experience using information systems, collaboration platforms, databases, repositories, or other technology tools to manage, track, store, organize, or retrieve information and data.

AEX1 - Experience supporting information governance, data governance, data stewardship, or records management activities.
AEX2 - Experience supporting or administering information management platforms, repositories, or document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, GCdocs, Purview, or similar tools).
AEX3 – Experience supporting governance committees, working groups, projects, or stakeholder forums, including meeting coordination, preparing documentation, action-item tracking, or records of decision.
AEX4 - Experience creating, maintaining, or applying metadata, taxonomies, classification structures, information inventories, retention schedules, or other information management frameworks.
AEX5 - Experience working within the Government of Canada or another regulated environment with formal information management, data governance, privacy, security, or compliance requirements.
