Junior Policy Analyst EC-02

Duties
Join the Office of the Chief Scientist at Polar Knowledge Canada and help shape science policy that advances knowledge, innovation, and evidence-informed decision-making for Canada's Arctic and polar regions. Polar Knowledge Canada is currently looking for a Junior Policy Analyst to assist with science policy analysis, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the coordination of initiatives that advance Polar Knowledge Canada's research, partnerships, and science priorities.As an analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the development of information products such as newsletters, training modules, backgrounders, and supporting coordination and completion of corporate reporting and other internal requests. You may also conduct environmental scans and analyze polar science and geopolitical trends and provide secretarial support to various federal and international committees where the Chief Scientist’s Office participates.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, statistics, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.Notes:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCEEX1. Experience researching, gathering, analyzing and synthesizing information from multiple sources to identify key issues, draw conclusions and support decision-making.
EX2. Experience preparing written products such as briefing notes, reports, presentations, summaries, recommendations, correspondence, articles, or other analytical documents.
EX3. Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal or external stakeholders through academic, professional, volunteer or community activities.
