About the position

Duties
Reporting to the Environmental Protection team in the Field Operations business unit, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting compliance verification work primarily related to the remediation and management of contaminated sites on lands with CER regulated infrastructure across Canada. The incumbent will conduct report reviews, meetings with CER regulated companies and field inspections, as well as summarize and interpret datasets of an environmental and regulatory nature to inform risk-based decision making. This work will include includes liaising with representatives from CER regulated companies, stakeholders, members of the Canadian public and also working closely with Indigenous Monitors within CER compliance verification teams across Canada.

The current position is based in Calgary, Alberta.

The CER has the following forms of additional compensation that are separate from base salary, the eligibility for which is determined, in accordance with the provisions in the collective agreement or terms and conditions of employment for the duration period specified:
• Annual performance pay, which includes elements of individual performance and corporate performance.

Education: University degree with specialization in environmental science/engineering related field OR other specialization related to duties of the position.

Experience:
E1 Experience in the field of contaminated site investigation and remediation.
E2 Experience in summarizing and interpreting technical information related to environmental sciences in both written form and orally.
E3 Experience summarizing, collating and interpreting data to support decision making, such as satellite imagery, environmental chemistry, environmental feature maps, or other publicly available datasets.

Asset Qualifications:
AQ1 Recent experience preparing or assessing regulatory submissions related to contaminated site management, remediation or closure such as remedial action plans, risk assessments or closure reports.
AQ2 Post-graduate university degree specialized in an environmental related field.
AQ3 Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples of Canada and implementation of the United Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
AQ4 Demonstrable commitment to public service including but not limited to leadership skills, a collaborative team player, adaptability, and an initiative-taking mindset.
