DutiesAre you looking for a new opportunity or challenge? The Strategy and Emerging Technologies branch (SET) is seeking candidates at the EN-ENG-04 group and level for several positions.
The main duties of the positions will include:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of regulations, standards, policies, and procedures related to launch and re-entry authorizations and oversight.
- Conduct verifications and analyses to support authorization and oversight of launch and re-entry activities in Canada.
- Develop and update technical guidance for launch and re-entry operations.
- Review technical content of launch and re-entry operational approval applications for compliance with published requirements and guidance.
- Actively participate in technical and programmatic committees, if required.
Work environment
Following the publication of the Treasury Board Secretariat Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace, Transport Canada has embarked in the implementation of its hybrid work model at Headquarters and regional offices in Canada. A hybrid work model is a blend of in-office and telework (4 days per week in the office).
Intent of the process
The results of this process will initially be used to staff three (3) indeterminate ENG-04 positions.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to fill similar positions with varying locations, tenures, language profiles, operational requirements, and/or conditions of employment, within Transport Canada – Strategy and Emerging Technologies branch. It is to be noted that the positions to be filled are located in the National Capital Region.

INSTRUCTIONS:

You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Education
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Occupational Certification: or / and
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Experience
EX1: Experience* in system safety, quality/product assurance or systems engineering of launch vehicle, space vehicle or aircraft (sub)systems
EX2: Experience reviewing and evaluating mechanical, electrical/electronics or software/firmware design, development or test
EX3: Experience in complex** technical projects
*Experience is defined as at least 6 years combined
**Complex is defined as a highly integrated, multi-disciplinary project

Abilities
A1: Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A2: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
A3: Ability to plan and manage a heavy workload and set priorities to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
EXA1: Experience in systems engineering of aerospace products or projects.
EXA2: Experience with launch vehicle (sub)systems or technology.
EXA3: Experience participating in the development of regulations, standards and/or guidance material.
EXA4: Experience in range safety, explosives, lighting protection systems or toxic propellant/materials.
EXA5: Experience using or developing Safety Management Systems for aerospace programs.
EXA6: Experience in conducting or reviewing rocket launch flight safety, aircraft flight dynamics, or orbital/attitude dynamics simulations and analysis.
EXA7: Experience working in a highly regulated environment and comfortable working beyond where regulations or even best practices do not yet exist.
