DutiesThe Contracting and Procurement Senior Officer is responsible for carrying out duties related to all aspects of the procurement process in the acquisition of specialized goods and services, in compliance with all relevant Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) policies and procedures, while providing guidance, advice and support to PPS client areas to ensure that the process is effective, expeditious and ethical, and provides the best possible value for PPS.
The Contracting and Procurement Senior Officer acts as a technical resource in procurement and contract management by providing advice on the application of PPS procurement policies, procedures and tools.
The Contracting and Procurement Senior Officer conducts quality assurance reviews of procurement and contractual documentation when required. The incumbent contributes to continuous process improvement and the development of procurement best practices within PPS.
Work environmentThe Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. It has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.
