About the position
Duties📝 The main duties of the TI-06 (Safety Management Systems Inspector, Safety Systems Overview) position include:
• Conducting audits of the Safety Management Systems (SMS) of railway companies operating in Canada to assess compliance with the Railway Safety Management System Regulations, 2015, and recommends appropriate compliance and enforcement actions.
• Participating in the design, development, and implementation of the regional railway safety management system regulatory compliance program.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders in the railway industry.
• Analyzing safety data in support of the Rail Safety Program.
The activities of this position require occasional travel locally, regionally, and sometimes nationally to conduct auditing activities. Most tasks will be performed in a typical office environment. Some activities may be performed in various indoor and outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions.

The incumbent must comply with Transport Canada’s guidelines on hybrid work, in accordance with the applicable work arrangements agreement. Intent of the process
🎯 This process is intended to fill one (1) indeterminate TI-06 position—Inspector, Safety Management Systems—at Transport Canada, based at the Moncton (New Brunswick) regional office.
A pool of partially qualified candidates could be established to fill similar positions within Transport Canada, in Moncton (Nouveau-Brunswick), Dorval (Quebec) or elsewhere depending on operational needs.

• Experience conducting audits in operational, risk-based, or compliance areas.
• Experience working in the railway industry in a position directly related to railway operations.
