About the position

Duties
As a PG professional at the OSGG, you won’t be limited to one specialty. You’ll have the opportunity to:
• Support the procurement of goods and services that enable the Office to deliver national ceremonies, official events and day-to-day operations.
• Manage lifecycle of Crown assets, from acquisition and inventory management to redistribution and environmentally responsible disposal through the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) GCSurplus program.
• Learn how procurement and materiel management policies are applied in real operational environments.
• Build expertise in contract management, inventory control, asset management, lifecycle planning and financial stewardship.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to deliver practical solutions and exceptional client service.

Intent of the process
This process is intended to staff one (1) PG-02 indeterminate position at the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General (OSGG). Additionally, a pool of fully qualified candidates will be established that may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the OSGG and will remain valid for 36 months (3 years).

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note1:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
• Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
• Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the PG classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the PG classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the PG classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives

EXPERIENCE
E1 – Experience supporting the acquisition of goods or services, including one of the following:
i. Coordinating requests and assisting clients or
ii. Providing support in materiel management activities, such as inventory control, tracking, and documentation.
E2 – Experience gathering and organizing information to support the flow of goods, services, or compliance across the supply chain.
E3 – Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
E4 – Experience coordinating tasks or logistics in a warehouse environment.
ABILITIES
A1 – Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A2 – Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
A3 – Ability to plan, organize work, and prioritize activities.
A4 – Ability to work part of a team.

EDUCATION
Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in one or more of the following:
• Business Administration
• Supply Chain Management
• Logistics
• Commerce
• Public Administration
• Asset Management
• Procurement
Or another field relevant to the duties of the position.

EXPERIENCE
AE1 – Experience using barcode or RFID inventory System.
AE2 – Experience using SAP Materiel Management (MM) module.
KNOWLEDGE
K1 – Knowledge of procurement and materiel management in relation to Treasury Board Secretariat Policies and Directives
