DutiesThe Armourer and Materiel Readiness Specialist is accountable for delivering a client service pertaining to the issuance, tracking and control of armament to Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) staff, ensuring the continued serviceability and readiness of armaments and other operational equipment, including specialized assets used across Parliamentary Precinct buildings.
There is a responsibility for the operational implementation of the program on asset preventive and scheduled maintenance, as well as coordinating external maintenance and repairs with external suppliers. The incumbent is also responsible for contributing to supply chain operations and asset readiness to support PPS operations in the context special events on the Parliamentary Precinct.
Work environmentThe Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. It has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.
