About the position

Duties
Build and maintain effective working relationships with First Nations, federal, provincial and municipal partners, and internal teams, including supporting issue resolution when required.
Deliver and manage programs and agreements such as grants and contributions, leases, licenses, budgets, and service delivery activities.
Ensure program activities comply with legislation and policy requirements, and work with partners to resolve issues.
Support the development and implementation of program policies, procedures, and information management practices. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs, services, and processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Plan and coordinate programs and projects, contributing to strategic planning and analysis. Work with internal and external partners to develop options, provide advice, and support operational planning.
Provide program expertise through analysis, briefings, reports, presentations, and participation in committees. Support the implementation and review of legislation, policies, and guidelines.
Work environment
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) develops and delivers policies and programs that support Canada’s economic, ecological, and scientific interests in oceans and inland waters.
The Small Craft Harbours Program (SCH) supports Canada’s commercial fishing industry by maintaining a national network of safe, accessible harbours. SCH works closely with local harbour authorities and partners to manage, maintain, and improve harbour infrastructure that is essential to fishing communities across the country.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff the below immediate vacancies:
• One term (temporary) appointment in Burlington, Ontario
• Two term (temporary) appointments in Winnipeg, Manitoba
• One indeterminate (permanent) appointment in Corner Brook, Newfoundland
• One indeterminate (permanent) appointment in St. John’s, Newfoundland
• Two term (temporary) appointments in Québec City, Québec
• Three term (temporary) appointments in Vancouver, British Columbia
This process may also be used to fill similar positions with various tenures (term, indeterminate, acting, secondment, deployment), language requirements and security requirements in Fisheries and Oceans across Canada.
