About the position
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible for providing professional advice and recommendations pertaining to impact assessments for proposed energy industry exploration, development, production, transportation and abandonment projects submitted under both the Canada Energy Regulator Act and Canadian Oil and Gas Operations Act. Matters may pertain to: social and cultural well-being, traditional land and resource use, heritage resources, navigation safety, impacts on rights of Indigenous Peoples, engagement, route selection, gender-based analysis plus, acoustic environment, human health, impacts on infrastructure and services, etc. The Socio-Economic Analyst / Impact Assessor will assist in the design and implementation of follow-up programs, consider implications of the cumulative effects of the project upon the social environment, and ensure that consultation with those affected is considered during the assessment process. In performing their work, the socio-economic specialist will participate as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Engagement activities may include planning for and assisting participants in public hearings.

Intent of the process
Intent to staff: two term positions (approximately 2 years).

The CER has the following forms of additional compensation that are separate from base salary, the eligibility for which is determined, in accordance with the provisions in the collective agreement or terms and conditions of employment for the duration period specified:
• Annual performance pay which includes elements of individual performance and corporate performance.
• Annual market allowance which applies only to specified operational positions applies to this position; the allowance is paid in a single annual payment.

Education: University degree with specialization in a related field such as sociology, anthropology, agricultural science, environmental science, physical science, economics, geography, or rural/urban/regional planning.

Experience:
E1: Experience in preparing or assessing environmental or socio-economic impact assessments, including impacts on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and land rights matters for natural resource or energy sector projects.
E2: Strong research and analytical skills, with experience gathering, evaluating, and interpreting information from multiple sources.
E3: Experience providing strategic advice/guidance and well-informed recommendations, supporting decision-making and advancing organizational priorities.
