About the position

Work environment
Make a difference without wearing the uniform.
This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process
This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Edmonton, Alberta.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

What is a top-down selection? It is where only the top scoring candidates will be invited to the next stage of the assessment. Please note that different pass marks and cut-off scores can be used at various stages of the assessment process. Candidates who attain the pass mark might not be further considered in the process if they do not achieve the cut-off score.
Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written exam, interview, and reference checks.
Candidates will be asked to provide proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
Candidates invited to the assessment stage will be required to provide ORIGINAL proof of their education credentials, i.e., their degree or official transcript. Failure to do so may result in you not being considered further in the selection process.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.

Conditions of employment

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.

Operational Requirements

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willing and able to work overtime, as required.
Willing and able to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport).

Successful completion of two years secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

Experience in providing administrative support services.**
**Administrative support services can include: reception duties, receiving and processing of mail, maintenance of administrative files, ordering and purchasing office supplies, taking meeting minutes, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Experience coordinating logistical arrangements (e.g., meetings, travel).
