About the position

Duties
As a CT-FIN-01 Financial officer, you would be responsible for providing guidance and service related to the financial activities of an organization at DND. Your knowledge of accounting principles, reporting, and auditing financial matters and budget planning/ monitoring will make you a valued member of a busy team.

👥In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence (DND) has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 4 days each week, or 80% of their regular schedule as of July 6, 2026.
Situated midway between Kingston and Oshawa, Trenton comprises the largest part of the amalgamated City of Quinte West (Pop. 46,560 (2021 Census)). It boasts opportunities for four season outdoor activities and rich family living with its location on the Bay of Quinte, Lake Ontario:
o Less than one hour from 2 provincial parks (Sandbanks Provincial Park (sand banks, trails, and beach) and Presqu'ile Provincial Park (lighthouse, trails and beach)
o Museums, including the National Air Force Museum of Canada and the Quinte Museum of Natural History
o Trail systems for hiking, biking and picnicking including Mount Pelion, and Trenton Greenbelt Conservation Area among others
o Trent Port Marina with easy access to renowned waterways such as the Trent Severn waterway and the Murray Canal to Lake Ontario
The largest employer in the region is the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton / 8 Wing where this CT-FIN-01 opportunity awaits you.
Intent of the process
An immediate need for a permanent, unilingual English financial officer exists in Trenton, Ontario. Needs in other locations listed above are anticipatory.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION
ED1: Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program, from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, or economics.
*At DND, specialization at the CT-FIN-01 level is defined as the successful completion of four (4) college or university level accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics courses.
Notes:
Education
It is the educational institution that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
Specialization
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and taken in a recognized post-secondary institution but not necessarily within a post-secondary program in the required specialization.
Acquired Rights
Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CT group on September 28, 2023, who do not possess the minimum qualifications prescribed above, remain entitled to their previously designated acquired rights:

Incumbents of FI-01 positions* are deemed to meet the qualification standard for the CT-FIN-01 level, based on their education, training and/or experience.
Incumbents of FI-02 or higher positions* are deemed to meet the qualification standard for those levels, based on their education, training and/or experience.

EX2: Experience using a financial system for financial processing, reporting, or analysis (e.g., DRMIS [Defence Resource Management Information System], SAP, Oracle).
