The basic purpose of the GLRO is to provide support to the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA) boards and to the Commission. GLRO is one of the IJC’s three offices and its Director is under the supervision of the Commission. While the mandate of the GLRO is focused on the Great Lakes pursuant to the GLWQA, its priorities are integrated into the broader IJC mandate and priorities, delivery of which is overseen by the Secretaries of the United States and of the Canadian Sections of the IJC.
