About the position

Duties
Kick‑start your career with FINTRAC! We’re seeking motivated new graduates who are eager to learn, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact. Here are the positions we are looking to fill either immediately or within the next 12 months in each Sectors! Additional information on each sector is available in the “Workplace” section.
Security, Modernization, Acceleration, Resiliency and Technology (SMART) Sector:
• Service Desk Agent (FC‑03): Offering first-level hands‑on experience in IT user support, enterprise IT systems, and client service in a secure environment.
• Junior Developer / Quality Assurance (FC‑03): Providing practical experience in coding, testing, and agile teams while supporting secure digital solutions.
• Security Officer (FC‑03): Offering front-line physical security services, with real‑world experience protecting people, facilities, and information in a high‑security setting.
Supervision Sector:
• Support Officer (FC-01): Provides support to supervisory activities related to federally regulated financial institutions, coordinates and organizes supervisory information in the preparation of materials that support risk-based oversight, and develops expertise through structured learning and collaboration.
• Junior Analyst (FC-03): Provides support to the supervision of reporting entities by assisting in the execution of risk assessment supervisory activities, which includes contributing to the implementation of legislative and regulatory changes, providing operational and analytical support in strategic research and modernization, and the delivery of the Non-Compliance Disclosure program.
Intelligence (INTEL) Sector:
• Operations Support Officer (FC-03): Provides administrative support through accurate, secure management of operational data and reporting workflows.
Partnership, Policy and Analysis (PPA) Sector:
• Junior Analyst, Reviews and Appeals (FC-03): Supports administrative monetary penalties (AMP) and Money Services Businesses (MSB) review and appeals by organizing case files, tracking data, and assisting with documentation and analysis.
• Junior Policy Officer (FC-03): Assists in policy research, analysis, and coordination to support legislative initiatives and FINTRAC’s AML/ATF mandate.
• Strategic Intelligence Support Officer (FC-03): Supports strategic intelligence analysis through research, data synthesis, and preparation of reports and briefings on financial crime and national security threats.
Corporate Services Sector:
• Administrative Assistant (FC-02): Provides administrative support by efficiently managing workloads and supporting effective organizational operations.
• Human Resources Partner (FC-03): Provides administrative and support services to optimize the delivery of HR programs and services across the organization.
• Financial Officer (FC-03): Supports effective management of the Centre’s financial resources by delivering financial services and coordinated operational support across financial activities as needed.
Accommodations Officer (FC-03 - Anticipatory): Provides basic technical and administrative support to help maintain an effective and productive office environment.

The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) is at the forefront of ensuring the safety of Canadians and the integrity of Canada’s financial system. As Canada’s financial intelligence unit and AML/ATF supervisor, FINTRAC helps combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and threats to the security of Canada.
The location of work will vary depending on the position to be filled; however, most of our positions are based in Ottawa. In‑office presence is required a minimum of three days per week.

Here is a brief description of each of our sectors!
Security, Modernization, Acceleration, Resiliency and Technology (SMART) Sector:
The SMART Sector delivers FINTRAC’s secure, modern, and resilient technology and digital services. It protects systems and information, maintains modern technology platforms, and provides tools that support daily operations.
Supervision Sector:
The Supervision Sector ensures that reporting entities across Canada comply with the Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing Act by utilizing a risk-based approach to deliver assessments, enforcement, engagement and education activities to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.
Intelligence (INTEL) Sector:
The INTEL sector analyzes financial transaction data to produce actionable intelligence that supports law enforcement and national security partners in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Partnership, Policy and Analysis (PPA) Sector:
The PPA sector supports FINTRAC’s mandate through policy leadership, research, analytics, and international collaboration to assess risks and strengthen Canada’s response to financial crime.
Corporate Services Sector:
The Corporate Services sector delivers finance, people, and workplace services that support FINTRAC’s mandate through sound stewardship, modern systems, strategic governance, and a high‑performing workforce.
Intent of the process
This recruitment process aims to fill various FC-01 to FC-03 positions and is intended to staff students who participated in the FSWEP or CO‑OP program, having graduated within the last two years or expected to graduate by August 2026 to facilitate their appointment as indeterminate or term employees through the student bridging mechanism.
Candidates who meet the specific staffing requirements of the position to be staff will be contacted at the appropriate time for further assessment.

No prior experience is required!
However, to be eligible for consideration, you must have completed at least one work term with the federal public service while attending a post‑secondary institution through one of the following programs within the last 2 years:
• Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)
• Post-secondary Co-op/Internship Program (CO-OP)

Financial services industry experience such as working in banks, credit unions, insurance companies, securities and wealth management firms, money services business, or government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or relevant areas.
