About the position
DutiesWe are seeking a skilled professional with expertise in economics and quantitative modelling to join our team. In this role, you will use your analytical abilities to formulate baseline insights from data, applying advanced economic methodologies to analyze trade, investment, and market diversification opportunities across specific sectors and the broader B.C. business landscape. You will play a key role in guiding construction of Power BI dashboards, conducting secondary research, and translating complex economic findings into visually compelling infographics, reports, and written materials that inform decision-making processes.
Collaboration will be central to your work, as you engage with key stakeholders—including provincial colleagues, academic researchers, and policy experts—to validate and refine insights derived from data analysis. Additionally, you will provide targeted economic information and analysis to support regional teams and program staff, ensuring their initiatives are grounded in robust economic intelligence.

PacifiCan follows the Federal Government’s Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace; with a minimum hybrid model (ex. Currently a minimum 3 days per week or 60% for part-time); and are currently reviewing the recent communication around increased onsite presence to a minimum of 4 days per week.
Intent of the process
The process is being run for one indeterminate position with the Strategic Policy & Cabinet Affairs division.
In addition, this recruitment process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions of various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, and acting appointments). The pool may also be used to staff positions with various security requirements, language requirements, conditions of employment, and in any PacifiCan office location in British Columbia.

EDUCATION:

Experience:
• Experience in analyzing economic issues*.
• Experience establishing relationships and collaborating with external parties on policy or economic initiatives.
• Significant experience** providing oral and written (e.g., reports, briefing notes) strategic advice and recommendations to senior management*** on complex**** economic issues*.
• Significant experience** in the development of strategies, policies, or programs to address complex**** economic issues*.
• Experience leading quantitative and qualitative research on economic issues* using economic or statistical techniques and programs.
• Experience designing, operating and maintaining quantitative spreadsheets or databases capturing economic data.
