Duties
The Alberta RCMP’s Community Safety & Well Being Branch is committed to improving community safety and outreach to the community. The Branch’s Strategic Engagement Section has a new opportunity for a District Crime Prevention Partnership Liaison. Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Engagement, the position is responsible for supporting the Crime Reduction Strategy within their District by building and maintaining partnerships and liaising between the RCMP, other levels of government, community organizations and consultative groups. Partnerships target various programs within the crime reduction realm aimed at reducing criminalization and/or involvement with law enforcement, and improving community safety outcomes. This position plays a critical role in collaborating with community stakeholders through working groups to deliver services to our communities which support our local, provincial and national policing priorities.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff multiple positions on a permanent basis across Alberta and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) and language profiles within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta.
Immediate vacancies exist in the following locations: Edson and Peace River.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.

Operational Requirements
Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Graduation with a diploma or a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Communications or related field.

Experience in identifying social and criminal trends, and preparing related documents for management such as: infographic documents, reports, presentations and briefing material.
Experience in working with community and/or government agencies.
Experience working with community programs for crime prevention, restorative justice, diversion, mental health, and/or social supports.
Experience working in law enforcement environment.

Preference
