About the position
DutiesGeo-Spatial and Data Technologists
• Obtain, verify and interpret geographic information systems (GIS) data to develop and enhance GIS products.
• Develop and enhance information collection, storage, retrieval and delivery mechanisms.
• Adapt processes to meet client needs.
• Provide training and assistance on the use of GIS tools and data within ArcGIS.
Intent of the process
This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Operational Requirements

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
• Completion of a program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geographic information systems (GIS), or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Learn more about degree equivalency.
• Recent* experience using GIS software to create and manipulate geo-spatial data
• Recent* experience managing, or using and manipulating information and data to develop GIS-related or analytical products
• Recent* experience analyzing and resolving GIS-related issues
• Advanced** experience using Microsoft Excel, or a similar program
*Recent is defined as experience gained within the last three (3) years.
**Advanced use of Excel (or a similar program) involves the ability to efficiently organize, manipulate, summarize and analyze large datasets using functions, formulas and cell references.
