About the position
Duties
The successful candidate may be required to work shifts that include weekends, evenings and overnight standby. This position has diverse duties, such as:
• Ground search and rescue
• Helicopter and class D rescue
• Training staff
• Human wildlife co-existence duties
• Other tasks as required

Intent of the process
The results of this process will be used to fill a full-time term assignment at level. The 6 month term will begin around May 1st. This process may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise at the GT-04 group & level, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Conditions of employment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status;
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
• Maintain relevant certifications.
• Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical evaluation as outlined in Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program.
Operational Requirements
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
Two years post-secondary program in outdoor recreation or a related field or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

Operational Certification:
• Valid Advanced First Aid Certification (minimum 80-hour course) and CPR;
• ACMG Apprentice Climbing Guide, Climbing Guide, Apprentice Alpine Guide Alpine guide or Mountain Guide
EXPERIENCE
• Experience travelling in mountainous terrain in summer including scrambling and climbing;
• Experience participating in mountain search and rescue operations;
• Experience providing first aid assistance;
• Experience working around helicopters.

• Ability to conduct search and rescue operations;
• Ability to conduct risk assessments both formally and informally and then complete job tasks with inherent risk.

• Search and Rescue Basics
• Search Manager Training
• Organized Rope Rescue Training or Rope Access
• Class D Helicopter Rescue Training
• ICS 100,200, 300
• Swiftwater Rescue
• Pleasure Craft Boat Operator
• Firearms training/PAL
ASSET EXPERIENCE
Preference may be given to applicants possessing the following experience:
• Professional or Volunteer Search and Rescue
• Wildlife management experience
