About the position

Duties
Administrative Assistants provide clerical, financial, administrative and operational support to a variety of teams. Duties include but are not limited to answering phones and providing information; attending meetings and preparing minutes; scheduling tour bookings; processing invoices; receipting cash; booking travel; Information Technology onsite support and managing keys.
Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas, national historic sites and urban parks in all regions of Canada. The Manitoba Field Unit manages a numbers of these assets and has employees located across the province.
The Administrative Assistant position works out of Churchill. Employee housing is not available.
Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff a temporary, full-time position (37.50 hours/week).
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in the same or other parts of the country.

Operational Requirements

◼️ Willingness to work at the Parks Canada office located in Churchill, Manitoba
◼️ Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license or provincial equivalent

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE
◼️ Experience working in office administration (including but not limited to accounts payable, purchasing, accounts receivable and information management)
◼️ Experience using Microsoft Windows Software, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook or other email software at an intermediate or advanced level

◼️ Knowledge of general office administrative practices and procedures

ASSET EXPERIENCE
◼️ Experience working in an office setting, which would include carrying out a variety of administrative functions (i.e. office mail, answering phones, handling money, maintaining office equipment, delivery receipt, arranging meetings, drafting meeting minutes, maintain/managing files, etc.)
◼️ Experience in providing reception and customer service over the phone, computer and in person
◼️ Experience extracting and reviewing data from accounting and financial systems
◼️ Experience with invoices - preparing, receiving and processing
◼️ Experience with purchasing - creating purchase orders, service contracts and material management documentation
