Here are a few examples of duties that you could be required to perform in an administrative position with CCG:
• Be the first point of contact for telephone calls, email messages, or in person enquiries;
• Receive, register, compile and distribute documents, and correspondence;
• Maintain files, records, databases, control/tracking and other reference systems;
• Input data to and maintain departmental systems for financial, human resources, and administrative information;
• Make arrangements and ensure follow-up for logistical services (travel and meetings);
• Provide general office support services such as word processing, maintaining the office and filing systems, and ordering office supplies;
• Create contracts and purchase orders for the purchase of goods and services;
• Extract, reconcile, interpret and compile financial information for use by management.

Work environmentThe Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is a special operating agency within the Department of National Defence (DND). We work to ensure the safety of mariners in Canadian waters and protect Canada’s marine environment. We support Canada’s economic growth through the safe and efficient movement of maritime trade. We help to ensure our country’s sovereignty and security through our presence in Canadian waters. The CCG proudly serves 243,000 kilometers of Canada’s vast and rugged coastline, the longest coastline of any given country, and is one of the few federal agencies that provides direct, front-line services 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The CCG Arctic Region was created to give greater voice to the Inuit, First Nations and Métis peoples, as well as residents of the North, CCG policy and decision-making in the Arctic. Come be a part of an exciting and dedicated organization that:

Intent of the process
We are looking to fill multiple CR-04 and AS-01 positions within the Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Region which includes the following locations: Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik or the Northwest Territories and the marine areas of James Bay and Hudson Bay.
In addition, a pool of candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent (indeterminate) positions in the above locations with the Canadian Coast Guard Arctic Region.
Other Departments and Agencies who have positions in the CCG Arctic region may also be able access this qualified pool. Linguistic profile requirements as well as tenures, position location and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.

Experience working in the Canadian Arctic or on Canadian Arctic related files
Experience using email and word processing software
Experience providing administrative support.**
** While not exhaustive, the provision of administrative support services could include: electronic calendar management for others, processing of travel requests, financial processing (invoice, purchase orders, etc.), processing of correspondence, file management, data verification/entry, logistical organization of conferences or videoconferences, preparation of contextual documents for meetings, etc.
The nature, scope and relevance of experience will determine whether or not this qualification is met.

Stream one (AS-01): Secondary school diploma or employer approved alternatives*
Stream two (CR-04): Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*
Note: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Equivalent experience: If you have on-the-job learning or other non-conventional training that you believe is equivalent to the secondary school diploma requirement, put it forward for consideration. The manager may accept a combination of education, training and/or experience in a related field as an alternative to the minimum secondary school diploma stated above if it is described thoroughly.
