About the position
Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff two (2) full-time 5-year term positions in Ottawa, ON.
A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, language requirements/ profile(s), security requirements, conditions of employment and for various locations.

Operational Requirements
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willing and able to work overtime as required.
• Willing and able to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, and air, with overnight stay.
• Willing and able to lead and participate in meetings in person and via telepresence.
• Willing and able to deliver presentations to the public and the media.
• Willing and able to participate in field operations in urban, rural and wilderness environments.
• Able to perform standby during off-hours and work on-call on a rotational basis as space weather duty forecaster.

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, earth sciences, or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the planning, design, maintenance, enhancement, and documentation of infrastructure to support geomagnetic or ionospheric data analysis.
• Experience in the processing and interpretation of geomagnetic or ionospheric data.
• Experience in scientific programming.
• Experience analyzing scientific information and writing scientific reports.
Experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least one (1) year.

ASSET EDUCATION

AEX1: Experience leading or managing scientific projects.
ASSET ABILITIES
• Ability to handle media enquiries as well as create and deliver public speaking confidently and effectively.
• Ability to develop scientific software in Python.
