Work environment
The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 types of civilian career opportunities. Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill two (2) indeterminate (permanent) positions, one located in Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec, and one located in Borden, Ontario.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary or indeterminate), operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.
Please note that all positions are on site, and individuals appointed will be required to work in person for the entirety of their scheduled hours.

Operational Requirements

🍁Depending on the position(s) being staffed, some additional Operational requirements may be required as well as some of the operational requirements listed may be used as conditions of employment. ⭐ EDUCATION
The minimum standard is:
EDU1. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note:
🔹 1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
✅ A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
✅ An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the GT classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

🔹AEX1. Experience working in a military training institution or a military environment that delivers structured instruction or operational training.
🔹AEX2. Experience participating in field training exercises (FTX) in a military or paramilitary context.
🔹AEX3. Experience in a domestic or overseas deployment as a member of the CAF, a civilian employee supporting CAF operations, or equivalent.
🔹AEX4. Experience supervising the use of small arms (e.g., C7/C8, pistol) during field exercises or tactical training scenarios.
🔹AEX5. Experience supervising the operation of a live‑fire automatic rifle range (e.g., C9/C6), including applying safety procedures and range management protocols.
