About the position

Duties
Analyzes and advises on emerging and ongoing issues in the Arctic, such as northern marine safety and security, governance, cultural awareness, reconciliation and collaboration with Inuit, First Nations and Métis, policies and strategies, and more.
Plans and supports regional and community engagement with Indigenous governments and organizations across the Arctic Region.
Work environment
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is a special operating agency within the Department of National Defence (DND). We work to ensure the safety of mariners in Canadian waters and protect Canada’s marine environment. We support Canada’s economic growth through the safe and efficient movement of maritime trade. We help to ensure our country’s sovereignty and security through our presence in Canadian waters. The CCG proudly serves 243,000 kilometers of Canada’s vast and rugged coastline, the longest coastline of any given country, and is one of the few federal agencies that provides direct, front-line services 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Intent of the process
We are looking to fill multiple PM-04 and PM-05 positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in the Arctic Region. Possible locations include: Yellowknife, NT; Inuvik, NT; Hay River, NT; Rankin Inlet, NU; Iqaluit, NU; or other communities in the Arctic Region.
In addition, a pool of candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent (indeterminate) positions in various locations that report to the Arctic Region with the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG).
Other Departments and Agencies who have positions in Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik or the Northwest Territories and the marine areas of James Bay and Hudson Bay may also be able access this qualified pool. Linguistic profile requirements as well as tenures, position location and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.

Experience working in the Arctic Region or on Arctic related files.
Experience working and collaborating virtually on projects and documents.
Experience working with Inuit, First Nation or Métis partners or organizations in northern communities.
Stream one only:
Experience in leading* multi-partner projects, programs, initiatives or services, major resource projects or environmental assessment projects
Experience in leading* the planning and organizing of virtual and in-person conferences and events
Experience planning and implementing projects, programs, initiatives or services
Experience establishing or managing relations with clients or partners (e.g. Indigenous groups, governments or organizations, industry, stakeholders, co-management agencies or other levels of government)
*Leading means you were primarily responsible for guiding, coordinating or making decisions for the work (not solely supporting as a team member).
