About the position

Duties
The incumbent will be the project management leader and:
• Manages medium to large-scale projects or leads a sub-component of multi-dimensional projects. Medium projects have timelines of up to one year in duration; greater than $500,000 in project funds; 5 to 10 project resources, including third party service providers; and pose medium risks to operations or a temporary disruption to operations. Large scale projects have multi-year timeline duration; a significant resource base (multi-million-dollar budget) with multi-dimensional/functional project teams; and high risk to operations, with the potential to disrupt services to external clients and/or departmental operations.
• Facilitates and leads planning committee meetings, engaged to consult with and gather information from clients/stakeholders regarding their project requirements; proposes project methodologies; and seeks agreement and understanding of roles and responsibilities, agreements to proposed joint activities and deliverables, cost sharing and reporting requirements.
• Leads key project management functions throughout the project life cycle such as project design; planning; activity planning; risk management/mitigation; stakeholder engagement; progress reporting; and post-project assessments.
• Supervises/directs an integrated team of employees, consultants, contractors and external service providers.

Willing and able to travel by various modes of transportation (including commercial and light aircraft) up to and including remote locations.

Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Recent** and significant *** experience leading the development and/or management of projects in one or more than one field related to continuous improvement, business efficiency, new process/technology implementation or similar.
(** Recent is defined as experienced acquired within the last two (2) years).
(***Significant is described as a minimum of three (3) years in a paid position where the primary duty is managing projects).
Experience preparing at least three (3) different types of project management related written reports including but not limited to: business cases, briefing notes, project charters, project plans, project status reports.
Experience in researching complex**** issues and providing strategic solutions to senior management*****
(****Complex issues is defined as those involving multiple stakeholders, financial implications, policy impacts, and/or time constraints).
(*****Senior management is defined as executive level - Director or higher).
Experience leading a team – either through leading project team(s) or supervising multiple direct reports or managing temporary resources assigned to a project under your management.
Experience managing a diverse portfolio of projects spanning various business lines. (Examples could include: procurement related projects, IT related projects, HR/organizational related projects etc.,)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in business administration, social sciences or a related field.
Additional coursework or training related to the position, for example change management or project management.
Professional certification (or working towards) related to the position (e.g., PMP, Lean/Six Sigma Belt, Prosci Change Management).

Experience using statistical or data management tools to manipulate, compile and interpret statistical data to create reports and other analytical or business intelligence tools.
