Work environment

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in St-Jean, Quebec and six (6) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Borden, Ontario.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

-Strict adherence to the CFLRS Policy on Violence in the Work Place and DAOD 5014-0, Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention.
-Willingness to wear work shirt, work pants and safety shoes during training periods.
-Maintain a valid First Aid/CPR Instructor certification (Red Cross Instructor Trainer level or equivalent).
-Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, kneeling, lifting and moving individuals during practical sessions.
-Ability to stand for extended periods (3-4 hours/day) while instructing.
Candidates must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment in this position.

Operational Requirements

Willingness and ability to work overtime, including weekends and holidays on short notice.
Willingness and ability to work irregular hours to support training schedules.
Willingness and ability to work in a high‑tempo environment with rapid schedule adjustments.
Willingness and ability to travel as required by the position

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
The minimum standard is:
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the GT classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

OC1: Valid First Aid/CPR Instructor certification (e.g., St. John Ambulance, Red Cross, or equivalent).
EX1: Experience delivering First Aid/CPR training or other safety‑related instruction in a classroom or practical training environment.
EX2: Experience using computers, audiovisual equipment, and training technologies to deliver instruction or produce course materials.
EX3: Experience planning, coordinating, or scheduling training activities or programs.
Applied / assessed at a later date

C4: Showing initiative and being action oriented.
C5: Communication (oral and written).

AEX1: Experience working in a military institute that provides training.
AEX2: Experience in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level C training with Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
AEX3: Experience developing or maintaining training databases or training records.
AEX4: Experience developing lesson plans, training materials, or instructional aids.
AEX5: Experience supervising or mentoring instructors, trainees, or temporary staff.
