About the position

Duties
This position is responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of healthcare and clinical services to offenders in an institutional setting within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). They also contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and operational policies and procedures. They supervise a team of nursing staff, service providers and support staff, providing input into human resource requirements within budgetary allocations, including overseeing contracts for professional services.
Work environment
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering court imposed sentences of a term of two years or more. CSC manages various security level institutions and supervises offenders under conditional release in the community.
CSC's mandate is to contribute to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
Intent of the process
The intent of this advertisement is to fill one NU-HOS-05 vacancy at Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst, Ontario. The process may also be used to staff similarly classified positions in Health Services, Correctional Service of Canada, Ontario region.

• Medical Clearance through Health Canada or alternatives designated by Health Canada.
• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Valid CPR and AED for Health Care Providers (HCP) is also acceptable.
• Possess a registered nurse license or registered psychiatric nurse license in good standing from the provincial or territorial regulatory body in the province or territory of practice, with no conditions or restrictions.
• Some positions may require working shifts, variable hours, weekends, and statutory holidays.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Current registration as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse in a province or territory of Canada*, with no conditions or restrictions.
* In order to be appointed, candidates must be registered in the province or territory where the position is being staffed.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience** in one or more of the following fields: psychiatric, medical-surgical, emergency or other related fields.
** Normally associated with experience gained over three consecutive years within the last five years.
• Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.***

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialization relevant to the position.
• Other relevant certifications.

• Experience managing financial resources.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities.
• Experience collaborating with community-based health organizations, such as public health or mental health organizations.
