Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires the incumbent to:
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
• Work and/or travel in varied terrains (including overnight, off site), weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
• Stand/walk/hike for prolonged periods;
• Travel extensively (including overnight, off site).

Education:
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to position or a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education.

Experience:
● Experience in providing input for the planning, implementation or delivery of visitor services;
• Experience in supervising staff, volunteers and/or students;
● Experience in providing leadership, feedback and performance evaluations when supervising employees
● Experience in working with stakeholders and partners (i.e. committees, cooperating associations, teachers, school board, communities and Indigenous groups).
Applied / assessed at a later date
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of personal and non-personal interpretive theory, techniques, planning and evaluation;
• Knowledge of natural and cultural heritage specific to Nahanni National Park Reserve;
• Knowledge of theories and best practices for working in cross cultural environments and Indigenous communities;
• Knowledge of project management and work planning practices.
Knowledge (supplementary to your baseline knowledge factors)
As outlined in the Ndahecho Gondié Gháádé Agreement, Parks Canada will give special consideration to:
• Knowledge of Nahʔą Dehé Dene and Dehcho Dene culture, communities, society and economy;
• Knowledge of the cooperative management arrangements for the Park;
• Knowledge of the environmental characteristics of the Park and its surrounding area.
