About the position
DutiesAs part of Parks Canada's energetic Visitor Experience team in Dawson (YT), Heritage Presenters deliver multiple daily interpretive presentations, programs and activities to provide visitors of the historic site with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada.
In a nutshell, you will develop and deliver engaging, meaningful and thought-provoking interpretive programs to help visitors understand and appreciate various aspects of the Klondike, past and present. We do meaningful work with a supportive, energetic team.

Work environment⛰️ The Yukon Field Unit is one of the most diverse field units across the country.
Geographically dispersed over 1200km across the Yukon, northern BC, and into Alaska, we offer a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors and staff. Our sites offer diverse and varied opportunities to explore Yukon’s beautiful landscape – from the glorious SS Klondike National Historic Site in Whitehorse, to the fabled Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site, to Canada’s largest ice field and extreme peaks in Kluane National Park and Reserve, extending to the colorful Klondike National Historic Sites in Dawson, to Vuntut National Park located above the Arctic Circle.

🎓 EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or approved alternatives or acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to position.
Degree equivalency: An acceptable combination of individual courses or experience relevant to the position (i.e. interpretation, performing arts, and public speaking, dramatic arts, museum studies, history or other discipline relevant to the position) may be considered.

💼EXPERIENCE
• Experience in paid or volunteer work that entailed direct contact and communication with the public.
• Experience delivering messages or information to groups in face-to-face situations with the purpose of education, engagement, entertainment and/or motivation

🧠KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of communication, presentation and interpretive techniques such as storytelling, demonstration, theatre programs or guided walks.
• Knowledge of the Klondike region’s historical sites and cultural heritage.

• Experience working in a northern and/or isolated community
• Experience working with the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in First Nation and/or experience with Hän language.
• Experience delivering indigenous cultural programs, theatre/performing arts, heritage interpretation, adult education, museum education, or storytelling.
✨ASSET KNOWLEDGE
