DutiesPrimary duties include, under the supervision of an inspector:
•Assists in the collection of soil sampling.
•Collects and records information about inspection results as well as other survey related activities.
Work environmentThe work is primarily performed outside and consists of walking fields, soil sampling fields and recording information. The environment is very collaborative and fosters a teamwork approach. Inspection Assistants receive support and guidance from inspectors.
Inspection Assistants are frequently required to walk approximately 10 – 15 kilometres per day, carrying weights of up to 10 kilograms. This is a physically demanding job.
Intent of the process
We currently have an immediate need to recruit approximately 15 Inspection Assistants anticipated to begin early Spring, with the possibility of extension. The intent of this Inventory is to have candidates to draw from when vacancies arise for current and future needs. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
This process will be used to staff emergency terms only, i.e. the temporary appointment of a person to support an emergency response. Emergency terms must meet the minimum requirements of the position, i.e. required levels of education/occupational certification, official languages, security and other conditions of employment. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
Individuals who have been appointed to the CFIA as an emergency term are not eligible to be a rehired term and any subsequent non-emergency appointment must be made in the context of another type of staffing action.
