About the position

Duties
This position will be required to provide semi-skilled and general maintenance, cleaning, snow removal, repairs, and building installation services to facilities in Mt. Revelstoke & Glacier National Parks. The successful candidate will be required to supervise a team of employees.
This position reports to work in Rogers Pass during the winter season and Revelstoke in the summer season.

Intent of the process
This is an anticipatory selection process. Candidates found qualified from this process may be contacted when a vacancy becomes available. The potential vacancy includes a temporary full-time position of approximately 7 months from April to October 2026, with the possibility of extension.
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 drivers license
• Able and willing to obtain and maintain air brake endorsement.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment.
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, evenings, overtime, weekends, be on call and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
• Willingness to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Willing and able to perform strenuous physical activity effectively and safely.
• Willingness to travel extensively between Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.
• This position reports to work in Rogers Pass during the winter season and Revelstoke in the summer season.

EDUCATION
Completion of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Class 5 driver’s license
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in semi-skilled building maintenance / grounds maintenance, repair of facility structures, equipment, and utilities.
EX2: Experience supervising a crew of multiple employees, including assigning work and assessing / appraising employee performance.
EX3: Experience in the operation of tools (i.e. small power tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters and chainsaws) and preventative equipment maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of power equipment and tools.
K2: Knowledge of preventative maintenance and care of equipment.
K3: Knowledge of janitorial and sanitation practices and equipment
ABILITIES
A1: Ability to work safely and follow safety standards, protocols and practices.
A2: Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and materials.
A3: Ability to conduct basic installations and construction using semi-skilled and general building and installation methods, techniques, and applications.
A4: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
A5: Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
