Duties
This position develops, implements, and ensures compliance with long-range plans for Jasper National Park, Fort St. James National Historic Site, the Municipality of Jasper, Outlying Commercial Accommodations and Hostels, and other business operations and major attractions outside of the community; ensures compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulations and policies as they apply to Municipal and leasehold operations; develops and maintains partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Municipality of Jasper, the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, the Planning Development and Advisory Committee, the Government of Alberta, and commercial, recreational and visitor groups; implements and monitors measures to ensure ecological and cultural resource integrity within the Municipality and within the field unit on commercial and institutional leaseholds; manages the realty and development review programs for the field unit.

Your staff of 7-10 share your conviction that the Townsites and Realty function contributes directly to Parks Canada’s corporate priorities: land use instruments include requirements for the protection of cultural and natural resources, and ensure a fair return to the Crown for Parks Canada lands; development, building, sign permits, and business licenses are issued once the requirements of management and community plans have been addressed; lessees understand and welcome their responsibilities to help visitors understand and appreciate these special places; advisory councils provide meaningful advice to Parks Canada on issues of local concern; and townsite facilities are maintained to ensure safe and attractive communities for residents and visitors.
Your management colleagues support each other in achieving shared goals throughout Jasper National Park. In particular, you often seek the advice of the Resource Conservation, Visitor Experience, Assets, and Planning Managers, and they yours. You are a member of a passionate team dedicated to the vision that created the national parks system.
The Jasper Field Unit:
You arrive for work in the community of Jasper, Alberta located in Jasper National Park, stunningly beautiful, and ecologically and culturally important. The laid-back mountain town of Jasper offers easy access to majestic peaks, endless outdoor adventure, pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife. Most of the park is wilderness, yet you’ll find trail networks right on your doorstep and your favorite urban amenities at your fingertips in the welcoming town. Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION:
Graduation with a university degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Business, Urban Planning, Public Administration or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
NOTE: Proof of education will be required at time of interview.

EXPERIENCE :
Experience in:
• Representing an organization within an intergovernmental relations context;
• Establishing, collaborating and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Leading goal oriented discussions/negotiations around complex issues;
• Administering realty, development, business license or like processes;
• Significant* management of human** and financial*** resources.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately three (3) or more years.
**Human resources management: Applicants must clearly demonstrate they have recruited and supervised staff, assigned work, managed and assessed performance, and implemented training plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they have supervised.
***Management of financial resources: Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget for two (2) complete fiscal years. This experience is defined as being responsible for sound financial management planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.
