About the position

Duties
As a member of the summer maintenance team in Mount Revelstoke & Glacier national parks, you will be responsible for various cleaning and maintenance tasks that are essential for the upkeep of our facilities and enjoyment of visitors. This includes comprehensive cleaning of picnic shelters, washrooms, outhouses, garbage collection, general facility maintenance, and grounds maintenance.
This position requires the incumbent to:
• Conduct repetitive tasks;
• Make moderate to heavy physical efforts, including lifting supplies, tools and equipment;
• Standing for prolonged periods;
• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders;
• Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements

• Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain air brake endorsement
• Willingness to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and/or prescribed protective equipment

Completion of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in general facility maintenance
EX2: Experience cleaning in a professional or institutional environment
EX3: Experience in grounds maintenance.
EX4: Experience in the operation of power tools such as lawn mowers and weed eaters.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of janitorial sanitation standards, practices and equipment.
K2: Knowledge of safety procedures related to general facility maintenance
K3: Knowledge of safety procedures related to grounds maintenance
ABILITIES
A1: Ability to operate vehicles and work related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
A2: Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment and implement minor maintenance.
A3: Ability to perform general building maintenance tasks.
A4: Ability to organize work and plan efficiently.
A5: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
