About the position

Duties
Person(s) will not be able to work Telework due to the nature of the duties.
Remote working is not a possibility with this position.
This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.
Work environment
Join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (RCMP LMD IERT or “IERT”) as a Fleet Coordinator and become part of one of the RCMP’s most specialized and dynamic tactical units. IERT is the RCMP’s specialized tactical unit in the Lower Mainland that responds in a tactical capacity to critical high risk incidents such as hostage rescues, armed suspects, barricaded persons, and other critical events requiring advanced tactical capabilities.
This is a rare opportunity to support an elite police team that responds to the most complex, high risk incidents across the region. Your work will directly contribute to public safety by ensuring that IERT’s highly specialized fleet is mission ready at all times.
In this role, you will manage and support a diverse range of vehicles including light-, medium-, and heavy duty trucks, armoured vehicles, specialty tactical platforms, and trailers used for deployments and logistics. Your duties will include coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, overseeing repairs, conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining detailed service documentation, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards. You will also assist with equipment installations and fit ups, monitor fleet performance, track mileage and fuel usage, forecast fleet needs, coordinate vendor work, and help plan for vehicle replacement or lifecycle updates. The position also involves transporting vehicles and supporting operational readiness activities to keep the fleet fully prepared for emergency deployments.
Working with IERT means joining a highly skilled, team oriented environment where your contribution directly supports front line policing operations. You will collaborate closely with tactical operators, mechanics, vendors, and partner units. While the role primarily follows a Monday–Friday workweek, occasional flexibility may be required to meet operational timelines. The environment is hands on, fast paced, and mission driven, with exposure to specialized equipment and, at times, sensitive operational material.
Located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, this role offers the benefits of mild weather, world class outdoor recreation, and access to a wide variety of urban amenities. Many surrounding communities offer excellent lifestyle options, diverse cultural environments, and strong work life balance opportunities. As an employer, the RCMP is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive workplace where employees are valued and given opportunities to grow professionally.
This position is ideal for applicants who want to take pride in meaningful work, enjoy technical and hands on responsibilities, and want to be part of a team that makes a direct and positive impact on community safety.
The position is a 37.5 hour work week - Monday through Friday on site with some flexibility with variable start times or completing the hours of work over 9 days instead of 10 in a two-week period.
This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.
Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one (1) permanent position. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent and temporary vacancies in similar-level positions.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.
