About the position
DutiesThe Housing Projects and Maintenance Technician is part of the technical team responsible for inspections, maintenance coordination, and the overall upkeep of the housing portfolio.
Duties of the position includes, but are not limited to:
🔎 Identify, assess, and thoroughly document repairs, maintenance, and improvement needed for different housing units in accordance with technical standards and building best practices.
📝Plan, organize, and coordinate the execution of repairs and maintenance work in collaboration with service providers, including preparing work orders and handling related administrative tasks.
👷🏼 Supervise, inspect, and validate the compliance of completed work, ensuring adherence to contracts, specifications, building codes, technical standards, and quality requirements.
🕵🏼♂️ Conduct preventive and reactive inspections of buildings, mechanical systems, structural components, building envelopes, and provide technical recommendations.
🤝 Deliver professional customer service to occupants by responding to service requests, assessing reported issues, and developing action plans and intervention schedules.
🧑🏽💻 Provide technical guidance and instructions to service providers, team members, and occupants, and support problem-solving on site.
🪛 Perform minor repairs or installations, including implementing safe temporary solutions when appropriate.
🗺️ Assist in preparing plans, technical documents, and specifications, and support the design, development, and execution of capital projects in collaboration with external service providers.
📅 Contribute to ongoing technical assessments, including lifecycle evaluations, investment prioritization, and continuous improvement of maintenance and operational processes for housing units.

We area team of 380 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 230 employees at our Housing Services Centers across Canada and 150 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one French Essential position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis at the CFHA Valcartier Office.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions with various tenures and language requirements at Housing Services Center Valcartier.

o Renovating residential single-family, semi-detached or row housing units.
OR
o Conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential housing or commercial properties.
