About the position

Duties
We are seeking creative, action-oriented individuals to lead or support science, monitoring, and resource management projects. You’ll collaborate with park management, specialists, and stakeholders—including Indigenous communities, private sectors, and the public—to advance Parks Canada’s conservation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct field research, monitor ecosystems, survey species at risk, manage invasive species, and analyze ecological data.
• Coordinate permits, equipment, supplies, and schedules; train or supervise students and volunteers.
• Enhance visitor experience by sharing information and monitoring park conditions.
• Foster collaborative relationships and work effectively with partners, stakeholders, First Nations and Indigenous communities to advance shared conservation goals.
• Support cross-functional programs and operational priorities, including wildfire response coordination, human–wildlife coexistence initiatives, and other integrated resource management activities.
Streams:
• Stream 1 (EG-02): Assist with conservation projects, conduct field surveys, maintain monitoring equipment, and support habitat restoration and species-at-risk programs.
• Stream 2 (EG-03): Plan and coordinate resource management activities, analyze data, prepare technical reports, and advise on conservation strategies and environmental compliance.
Work environment
Parks Canada protects and presents Canada’s natural and cultural heritage through national parks, marine conservation areas, and historic sites across the country.
This position is part of the Resource Conservation team at Bruce Peninsula National Park (BPNP) and Fathom Five National Marine Conservation Area (FFNMP), located on the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula within the territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Anishinabek.
BPNP features dramatic Georgian Bay cliffs, forests, and diverse habitats supporting black bears, rare reptiles, ancient cedars, and orchids. FFNMP, Canada’s first national marine park, is renowned for its deep freshwater ecosystem, historic shipwrecks, and unique flora.
Together, these parks safeguard complex Great Lakes ecosystems and welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors annually for recreation, inspiration, and connection with nature.
Intent of the process
This process is intended to fill anticipated vacancy(ies) with the same or similar work description, including indeterminate seasonal and term opportunities.
Number of positions to be filled: 4 (2x EG-02 0.5FTE, 2x EG-03 0.5 FTE)

Reliability Status security clearance - Possess and maintain a valid class G2 or G drivers license.

Operational Requirements

• Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy.
• Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, including standby and call-outs when required.
• Work and travel in a range of environments, including varied terrain, weather conditions, and occasionally remote or isolated locations, using different modes of transportation.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications, such as WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Canadian Firearms Safety, and certifications for operating ground vehicles (e.g., all terrain vehicles) and motorized and non motorized marine vessels
• Undergo and meet the requirements of a pre‑placement and periodic health evaluation as outlined in the Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION:
At least two years of post-secondary education in environmental or natural sciences (e.g., biology, ecology, geology, geomatics), or a combination of education, training, and experience in a related field (minimum two years within the past five years)

EXPERIENCE:
Experience ALL STREAMS (EG-02, EG-03):
EX1. Experience working in the field
EX2. Experience collecting data/samples on plants, animals, water or soil, on land or in water using a variety of scientific equipment
EX3. Experience using a variety of computer applications for collecting, entering and managing scientific data and report writing (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, R, databases, GIS, etc.)
Experience (EG-03 only):
EX4. Experience supervising or leading students, staff, field crews and/or contractors
EX5. Experience contributing to the preparation of technical/scientific reports and manuscript drafts, presentations, web site information, public presentations
EX6. Experience building collaborative relationships and working effectively with partners, stakeholders, First Nations and Indigenous communities to support shared conservation goals.

Additional Qualifications:
Asset Experience ALL STREAMS (EG-02, EG-03):
AE1. Experience working with Saugeen Ojibway Nation or other Indigenous communities;
AE2. Experience operating and navigating motor vessels on the Great Lakes, including knowledge of navigation systems, emergency procedures, and field operations in freshwater environments;
AE3. Experienced and licensed pesticide user;
AE4. Possession of a valid PAL and successful completion of the Parks Canada Long Arms program.
AE5. Experience analyzing ecological data using statistical software (e.g. R, Python, Access or similar)
AE6. Experience with cross-functional activities, including visitor safety, visitor experience, fire management and human wildlife coexistence programs
AE7. Experience with GIS (Esri ArcGIS)
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge ALL STREAMS (EG-02, EG-03):
K1. Knowledge of Saugeen Ojibway Nation Anishinabek
K2. Knowledge of the terrestrial/marine environments, vegetation and wildlife characteristics specific to Bruce Peninsula National Park/Fathom Five National Marine Park.
K3. Knowledge of equipment, methodology, protocols, procedures for data collection and basic analysis to conduct active resource management activities.
Knowledge (EG-03 only):
K4. Knowledge and ability to perform data manipulation and analysis using a variety of software applications to summarize findings and generate insights that support informed decision making.
