Work environmentAre you passionate about protecting and sharing your culture and history, and the natural environment? Do you love working in and with your community, especially with youth and Elders? Are you excited by the potential to create visitor programs for a new national park? If yes, this is the opportunity for you!
Parks Canada is seeking a Parks Canada Community Liaison to lead community outreach in Sheshatshiu and to help begin planning visitor programs for Akami-Uapishkᵁ-KakKasuak-Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve. In the spirit of the Innu Nation Park Impacts and Benefits Agreement, Parks Canada and Innu Nation will collaborate to develop a work plan which reflects Innu & community priorities and Parks Canada’s mandate.
Creating a new national park is a bold and exciting undertaking (currently there are only 48 across Canada), ideal for creative thinkers and talented multi-taskers. There will be no typical day: at times you may be working with your community to support developing tourism capacity. Other days you will be with Innu Guardians sharing stories and ideas about how to welcome visitors on the land. You may also be supporting visits and exploring the National Park Reserve with your colleagues or with partners. At times you may work in other Parks Canada offices, collaborating with your Parks Canada team on how Innu perspectives will shape future programs.
