About the position

Duties
The main duties of the Engineering Superintendent Auxiliary Vessels include but are not limited to:
• Plan, coordinate, and adjust operational and maintenance schedules to address staffing shortages, urgent operational requirements, and adverse weather conditions.
• Manage and monitor vessel Planned Maintenance Systems, ensuring maintenance tasks, inspections, certifications, and reporting requirements are met.
• Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and refits for all Auxiliary Fleet vessels. Ensure work is completed safely, to standard, and on schedule to support operational readiness.
• Lead and oversee marine operations and fleet management activities, including the supervision, administration, and performance management of engineering personnel.
• Plan, monitor, and manage budgets for maintenance, repair, and engineering support activities. Track expenditures and ensure cost effective use of resources.
• Work closely with contractors, repair facilities, QHM operations, and technical authorities to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure timely project completion.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
ED. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
↪ A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
↪ An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
↪ Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
↪ Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Experience in marine operations and fleet management, including leadership, administration and supervision of engineering personnel.
EX2. Experience coordinating and adjusting schedules or work plans for self and others to accommodate staffing shortages, urgent operational or maintenance needs, and adverse weather conditions.
EX3. Experience providing advice and recommendations to senior management.
EX4. Experience working with vessel Planned Maintenance Systems.
EX5. Experience working with budget administration.
