About the position

Duties
🏞️Provide general maintenance, repair, and labour services to support grounds, facilities, housing maintenance, potable water and sewer systems maintenance, testing, and record keeping; code compliance and reporting; construction and installations; and other general maintenance and semi-skilled repair requirements for the Parks Canada Agency.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill 1 term position for approximately one year with possibility of extension.
A qualifying list will be established and may be used to fill similar positions of various tenures and various locations within the Parks Canada Agency.

• Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License.

Operational Requirements

The position requires the incumbent to:
• Willingness and ability to travel and work in a variety of terrain and weather conditions.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program delivery requirements.
• Willingness to wear the appropriate Parks Canada Uniform and safety equipment, including steel-toed boots.
• Willingness to take necessary training for potable water and wastewater certification.
• Willingness to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to work shiftwork, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager.

🎓EDUCATION:
• A secondary school diploma, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience or traditional knowledge relevant to the position.

💼 EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in repair and construction work on recreational facilities, such as: buildings, campsites, and other infrastructure.
• Experience in the use, operation and maintenance of a range of manual and power tools and equipment.

📚 KNOWLEDGE:
• Basic knowledge of construction of facilities, such as: stairs, boardwalks, bridges, and water drainage construction, associated with front-country and high use areas.
• Basic knowledge of construction practices such as plumbing, construction and electrical systems.
💡 ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
• Ability to select, safely use and maintain hand and/or power tools for various operations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize various tasks and responsibilities.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance inspections and procedures on all facilities and equipment within their scope of responsibilities and to maintain records of such inspections.

• Experience in conducting inspections/evaluations of facilities.
• Experience in planning and managing small scale projects.
