About the position
DutiesThe Visitor Facilities Attendant performs a full range of janitorial assignments to maintain clean and safe buildings and grounds including:
- Cleaning and maintaining visitor/public buildings/facilities;
- Cleaning and maintaining diversified accommodations;
- Conduct general cleaning around buildings, grounds, public-use areas such as visitor centers, campgrounds, beach areas and walkways;
- Lock and unlock buildings and gates;
- Observe appearance and condition of premises and equipment; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring servicing;
- Maintain / restock inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies;
- Contribute to visitor experience by responding to general inquiries and direct visitors to sources of information and service areas.
Facility Attendants typically work in a team during the peak season, however, those that work earlier or later in the season may have some more independent work.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance - Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.
Maintenance of a valid class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License, or other provincial equivalency.
Required to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.
Required to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
Required to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, and isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
