About the position
Work environment
Established in 2007 under the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act, the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner of Canada (the Office) is an independent organization that strengthens accountability in the federal public sector. It investigates and exposes major wrongdoing through reports to Parliament, and investigates complaints of reprisal.
Intent of the process
The intent of this selection process is to staff one determinate position/secondment/Interchange Canada assignment.
A pool of qualified candidates resulting from this process will be created and may be used to fill similar positions with a bilingual imperative CBC/CBC linguistic profile as well as tenures (indeterminate/determinate/deployment/acting/secondment) which may vary according to the position being staffed within the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner of Canada (PSIC).

If you do not respond to our communications, we will interpret this as your withdrawal from the process.
• Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.
• Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice.
• You must indicate on your application if you require a technical aid for testing or an alternative method of assessment.
• Reference checks will be sought.
• An interview will be administered.
• A test or situational exercise may be administered.
• A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
• You must provide proof of your education credentials.
• An assignment, secondment, or acting appointment requires approval of your supervisor.
• Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the advertised appointment process.
• As an acting appointment of four months or more is an Appointment under the Public Service Employment Act you are required to meet the linguistic profile of the position.
• All of the information collected during the selection process, including behaviour and communication, from the time of application until the end of the process, may be used to evaluate candidates.

Remain a member in good standing of the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada and remain so throughout the duration of your employment with the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner of Canada.
You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION:
A bachelor of law degree (LLB) or equivalent (Law Licence LL.L., Juris Doctor
J.D.).

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Be a member in good standing or immediate eligibility for membership in the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
EX 1: Experience in conducting legal research and providing legal advice in a legal file in or relating to the federal public sector* in the following areas of the law:
• administrative law; and
• employment law.
EX 2: Experience in writing court or tribunal documents such as pleadings and submissions or in writing investigation reports or quasi-judicial decision letters.
* “Legal file in or relating to the federal public sector” means a matter that concerned or involved any organization named in Schedules I and I.1 to V of the Financial Administration Act or any federal Crown corporations.

K1: Knowledge of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act, S.C. 2005, c. 46.
K2: Knowledge of the mandate, role and jurisdiction of the PSIC.
