Provision of skilled carpentry services for industrial and residential buildings and structures, and other assets in a national park.

Operational Requirements
Operational Requirements:
• Maintenance of a valid class 5 driver’s license recognized by the province of Nova Scotia, or other provincial equivalency.
• Willingness to take training and update licences and certificates as requested by the employer.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial holidays, when required.
• Willingness to work and travel in varied terrain and weather conditions.
• Willingness to perform work throughout the entire geographic area of the Cape Breton Field Unit.

Education:
• Successful completion of a post-secondary program relevant to the position or PSC-approved alternatives OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Occupational Certification:
• Journeyman Carpenter Certificate (Proof of certification must be submitted with your application).
Experience:
• Experience in the carpentry trade in a maintenance shop environment.
• Experience in the maintenance of residential and light industrial buildings.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of current methods and practices related to carpentry.
• Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
Abilities:
• Ability to review and interpret conceptual plans, building/construction plans.
Personal Suitability:
• Exercises sound judgment.
• Takes responsibility.
• Makes things happen.
• Communicates effectively
