About the position

Duties
Provides investigational forensic identification support services to law enforcement investigators.
Develops reports and/or oral briefings relating to change of custody of exhibits for operational police personnel.
Provides technical support to various Integrated Forensic Identification Services Units including: the submission of digital latent fingerprints using the Regional Automated Fingerprint Identification Access System.
Intent of the process
"The immediate need is to staff 1 position on a term basis.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate basis or specified period (including term, acting appointments or assignments). This pool may also be used to staff similar positions, with various language and security requirements.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - of the RCMP.
All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process, which includes reference checks and an interview wherein questions may include (but are not limited to) previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

Operational Requirements

Ability and willingness to work shift work (24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year).
Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice.
Ability and willingness to testify in a court of law anywhere across Canada and Internationally.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Must be willing to work with dangerous goods and toxic materials.
Respect and maintain the medical profile standards established for the position.
Must be willing and able to handle firearms.
Must be willing and able to work in a wide variation of temperature.
Must be willing and able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 15 kgs.
