About the position
DutiesWorking as part of the Visitor Services Attendant team, you will be responsible to welcome and orient visitors to a wilderness park, provide visitor reception and process payments at various locations including remote, rustic campgrounds.
Tasks will include:
- providing comprehensive information on the natural and cultural heritage of the grasslands
- interpreting safety messages and regulations
- reinforcing messages on the region’s services and remoteness
- recommending activities, trails and excursions
- consulting on backcountry planning
- operating Point of Sale (POS) & campground reservation systems
- resolving visitor dilemmas/complaints.

Reliability Status security clearance - Obtain and maintain Reliability Status Clearance.

Obtain and maintain valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent throughout your employment.
Operational Requirements
Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
Willingness to perform duties in various locations within the park
The position requires the incumbent to:
Work alone with little to no supervision
Have reliable transportation to get to and from workplace

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience or traditional knowledge relevant to position.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience providing information or providing services to the public.
Experience in anticipating/detecting incidents, resolving complaints, and finding solutions.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in handling cash, operating point of sales, sales reports and bank deposits.
Experience working in visitor services, hospitality.
Experience working collaboratively in a small team environment.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the natural and cultural history of Grasslands National Park.
Knowledge of services, programs and guidelines in Grasslands National Park.
