About the position
Duties
As a senior business officer, you will work with companies and partners to:
• Connect businesses, economic development organizations, and communities with our programming and services.
• Use data-informed tools to contribute to funding decisions.
• Assess project proposals, analyze business plans, review financial statements, develop informatics, process reimbursement claims, and evaluate compliance with legal agreements.

Intent of the process
This is an anticipatory process to develop a pool of qualified Senior Business Officers for future temporary or indeterminate (ie., permanent) opportunities.
The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff future vacancies with various tenures, work locations, language requirements and conditions of employment.
Operational Requirements
• Willing and able to travel occasionally.
• Willing and able to work overtime as required.
• Ability and willingness to report to a PrairiesCan office a minimum of 3 days per week per the Direction on Prescribed Presence for the Government of Canada.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Experience in:
• Working in or closely with one or more of Saskatchewan’s priority economic sectors (e.g. mining, agriculture, manufacturing, clean technology, digital tech) to advance the interests of businesses and promote growth, create jobs, and support the development of innovative firms and ecosystems.
• Assessing project proposals or loan applications for funding (including business plans and financial statements).
• Ensuring terms and conditions of contractual agreements are respected and followed and monitoring progress throughout the lifecycle of a loan, investment or project.
• Gathering and analyzing data and diverse opinions to develop strategic advice and recommendations for senior management on issues related to business investments or economic priorities.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Commerce, Finance, Business or Public Administration, Economics or other relevant specialty and/or professional or academic designations related to the duties of the position.

Experience in:
• Working with domestic and/or international supply chain(s), including planning and conducting analysis to better understand logistics and operational needs.
• Depth, breadth and scope of experience in any one or combination of the essential or asset experience requirements.
