About the position

Duties
- Clean office and visitor/public buildings including walls, windows, floors, furniture, equipment, service areas, displays/cultural resources and structures (e.g. dust, wash, scrub, strip, wax, vacuum and polish);
- Conduct general cleaning around buildings, grounds, public-use areas (e.g. pickup litter, empty trash receptacles, clean firepits);
- Maintain/restock supplies (e.g. visitor services areas such as washrooms, cleaning supply rooms); and
- Perform minor operational maintenance tasks (e.g. replace light bulbs, tighten screws on door handles and hinges).

1. SCREENING QUESTIONS

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires the incumbent to:
• Wear proper PPE
• Conduct repetitive tasks
• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders
• Lift supplies, tools and equipment up to 50lbs.
• General cleaning duties as per scope of work.
• Pick up litter and trash
• Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements
• Be exposed to noxious odours from cleaning products
• Demonstrate tasks to others
• Attend required training, e.g., WHMIS, Canada Labour Code Level 1, First Aid Training

You need (essential for the job)

EDUCATION
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience OR alternative to a secondary school diploma.

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in providing cleaning services in a commercial or institutional environment
• Experience in maintaining/restocking supplies
• Experience in performing minor operational maintenance tasks (eg: tighten a screw or change a light bulb).
KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of how to read and follow instructions for the use of cleaning products
• Knowledge of how to apply health and safety procedure at the work site, including standard First Aid
